The EMPEREST project 1st workshop in Tartu is the first large external project event.

Description

The EMPEREST project 1st workshop will take place on 12-14 February 2024 in Tartu, Estonia. The title of the event is "Raising awareness and initiating actions towards socio-environmental resilience to PFAS".

This workshop will introduce the subject of PFAS and other organic micropollutants and bring the Estonian perspective to the work on it. Participants will learn about health and environmental risks of PFAS and the approaches to risk management. Discussions will take place around local PFAS risk assessment plans, technologies for the removal of organic micropollutants, and further cooperation opportunities.

This EMPEREST workshop is open to all relevant stakeholders from the Baltic Sea Region, especially local authorities, water utilities, water associations, and international organisations working with PFAS and other organic micropollutants.

The event is open to public, the programme includes:

  • 12 February evening: networking dinner for getting to know other participants and setting up the discussions
  • 13 February all day: presentations, visiting the mobile pilot plant, afterwork
  • 14 February: morning session on cooperation and a site visit to Tartu WWTP
