Description

Biochar – from potential to practice

Biochar could play a significant role in the future of agriculture as part of the sector’s climate efforts and green transition.

As part of the political Agreement on a Green Denmark, DKK 10.2 billion has been allocated for the period 2027–2045 to promote carbon storage through the application of biochar on agricultural land.

The funding is expected to be provided as an operating subsidy per tonne of carbon permanently stored in biochar. The aim is to promote the deployment of pyrolysis technology while contributing to Denmark’s national climate targets.

But what exactly is biochar? What do we know about its effects in the soil, and how could it work in practice on farms?

Fjordland and Energibyen Skive will explore these questions at an evening event where you can learn more about the research, the technology and the opportunities that may be emerging for agriculture.
