BATS is please to share details of the second project webinar.

Description

Discover the future of winter maintenance in our upcoming webinar, where we’ll explore innovative strategies tailored for cycling and pedestrian infrastructure.

Join us as speakers from BATS partner organisations in Hamburg and Umeå share their firsthand experiences, challenges, and solutions in managing winter conditions.

The session will highlight the use of advanced monitoring tools and technology to optimise snow and ice clearance, and showcase lessons learned from local experiments across BATS partner cities.

Joining us to share insights and experiences, we're delighted to be joined by:

  • Damiano Cerrone (Urbanist AI, SPIN Unit) will present perspectives for walking and cycling in winter, drawing on lessons from Estonian cities and AI futures.
  • Martin Nylander (UmeÃ¥ kommun) will showcase information on what the local Streets and Parks Department's street operations division does during winter to ensure that roads, pedestrian paths, and cycle paths remain accessible and passable for as many people as possible while maintaining a high standard in a growing city.
  • Marie-José Feldmann (Stadtreinigung Hamburg) will provide insights into winter maintenance on pedestrian and cycle paths in Hamburg and share a short project presentation on testing alternative de-icing materials (Brine Solution & Sodium Formate).

Registration is free and open to anyone interested in participating in an engaging and insightful session!
