On 29 September 2026, the Association of Polish Municipalities of the Pomerania Euroregion (SGPEP) organised a training session in Szczecin City Hall for representatives of municipalities and counties, as part of the international Interreg Baltic Sea Region project Change(K)now!.
The training focused on practical ways to reduce single-use packaging in catering and at public events, implement reusable solutions, and strengthen the role of local and regional authorities in advancing the circular economy.
Participants explored how reusable packaging systems can be incorporated into public institutions, catering services, and event organisation. The session highlighted that moving from single-use to reusable packaging requires more than simply replacing products: it involves designing an entire system, including procurement, delivery, collection, washing, and reuse.
Particular attention was given to the role of local authorities as both users and promoters of sustainable solutions. Through their procurement decisions, catering contracts, and the organisation of public events, municipalities and counties can help prevent waste, encourage more sustainable practices, and set an example for residents, businesses, and other institutions.
The training also supported the transfer and replication of circular solutions developed through Change(K)now!, helping public authorities build the knowledge and capacity needed to implement these approaches in their everyday activities.
