On the 14th October 2026,  the BSR HyAirport Conference took place in Riga and marked the successful conclusion of the BSR HyAirport project.

The final conference, organized by the Latvian project partners and hosted at the University of Latvia in Riga, brought together key stakeholders from across the aviation and hydrogen sectors, including airports, technology developers, policymakers, researchers, industry representatives and public authorities. Together, they reviewed the project’s main results and discussed what comes next for hydrogen in aviation.

The conference showcased the full breadth of the project’s work, from legal frameworks, supply chains and business cases to aircraft handling procedures and hydrogen-powered airport equipment. Participants also exchanged experiences from other European hydrogen airport initiatives, explored manufacturers’ perspectives on hydrogen aircraft, and discussed the future development of the hydrogen market.

Beyond the presentations, the conference highlighted something equally important: collaboration. Bringing together experts from across the aviation value chain allowed for open discussions on challenges, opportunities and the practical steps needed to move hydrogen technologies from pilot projects towards broader deployment.

Over the last three years, BSR HyAirport has helped build knowledge, develop concepts, test technologies and strengthen cooperation across the Baltic Sea Region. The project has shown that preparing airports for hydrogen is not only about infrastructure and technology, but also about partnerships, learning and shared commitment.
