Building Better Music Ecosystems: MI-RAP's Final Dissemination Event at Reeperbahn Festival

MI-RAP closed out three years of work with its final dissemination event, “Building Better Music Ecosystems,” held on 18 September 2026 at Reeperbahn Festival in Hamburg. Around 50 people attended, including MI-RAP project partners, all four participants of the project’s Transmission Programme, members of the Music Cities Network, and industry professionals visiting the festival.

Project Lead Fabian Baßenhoff (from Hamburg Music) opened the session with a short introduction to MI-RAP, followed by Sebastian Hentsch, Project Officer at the Managing Authority/Joint Secretariat of the Interreg Baltic Sea Region Programme, who presented the wider Interreg BSR context the project operates in.

The core of the event was a round of discussions at themed tables, where participants dug into the practical challenges and opportunities facing music ecosystems across the Baltic Sea Region. Conversations were lively and substantive. When the results were brought together at the end, one conclusion stood out: MI-RAP’s tools and findings already offer concrete help in several areas, but real gaps remain, and further work is needed to build lasting resilience across music cities and regions.

The event closed with a well-attended networking session, bringing MI-RAP partners, Transmission Programme participants, and Reeperbahn Festival’s professional audience together for informal exchange and follow-up conversations.

That is exactly why MI-RAP’s legacy in the Music Cities Network matters: it gives these discussions a permanent home, and a place to keep them going.
