The Baltic Blue Corridor Platform tackles the urgent need for safer, more resilient, and sustainable maritime transport in the Baltic Sea—one of Europe’s busiest and most ecologically sensitive regions. It addresses challenges such as geopolitical uncertainty, navigation system vulnerabilities, lower-standard vessels, and the complex shift to alternative fuels under the European Green Deal. Combined with harsh weather, seasonal ice, and pollution risks, these factors create a demanding environment for maritime operations. Designed for national authorities, intergovernmental bodies, and policymakers, the platform offers tools and knowledge for safe, efficient navigation. It integrates results from leading EU-funded projects—MaDaMe, ORMOBASS, Baltic Sea eNav, R-Mode Baltic, OpenRisk II, BRISK II, WATERWAYS, DIGIMARIS, MARISEC, Sustainable Flow, NEMO EMSW, ISTLAB, and Efficient Flow—bringing innovations in resilient positioning, real-time digital services, and advanced risk models. Key outputs include actionable recommendations, an operational framework for interoperable digital navigation tools, and strategic insights on maritime risks, developed through stakeholder dialogues, workshops, and cross-border cooperation. Ultimately, the platform promotes a proactive, knowledge-driven approach to maritime safety and sustainability, fostering collaboration and digital innovation for greener, safer, and smarter transport in the Baltic Sea.
