City of Tallinn, Estonia, is hosting the EUSBSR Annual Forum 2026 on 12-13 May, and among others, SEABAS is heading to meet and greet researchers, governments, cities, visionaries, policymakers, researchers, and civil society leaders. SEABAS’s focus on supporting the blue economy and biodiversity conservation through forming a regional framework and guidelines to bring in the environmental aspect into maritime spatial planning (MSP) lies at the heart of EUSBSR Annual Forum’s theme of the year: Resilience. Â
SEABAS is organizing break-out session no. 17 on day 2 of the Annual Forum, Wednesday 13 May, from 10:15 to 11:15. The session is aimed at maritime sectors, spatial planners and decision makers. A few additional places will be made available, so please check availability ahead of the breakout session.  Welcome aboard!Â
The SEABAS break-out session:Â 17. The regional recipe for a strategic environmental assessment for maritime spatial planningÂ
This session will focus on the needs of different maritime sectors and interests in maritime spatial planning (MSP), covering the environmental, socio-economic and cultural perspectives. The cross-cutting question underpinning the discussions is: how to ensure resilience in MSP across the Baltic Sea region? The outcomes will feed into the development of the regional Strategic Environmental Assessment (SEA) framework being developed under the Interreg-BSR-funded platform project SEABAS.Â
Come and meet us in the Networking Village!Â
SEABAS will share lead partner HELCOM’s stand in the Networking Village, alongside several other projects, next to the stand of the project’s associated partner, VASAB. The HELCOM stand is located under the Policy Area Spatial Planning, and the Networking Village is situated at the centre of the venue – you can’t miss it. We will be available for a chat on Tuesday and Wednesday, 12-13 May, during the Networking Village opening hours.Â
Maritime spatial planning needs to evolve into a regionally strong and coherent strategy and practice, so come stop by and say hello, and discuss the topic. See you soon!Â
