UAM Use Cases and Landing Site Infrastructure
22 December 2025
The new report highlights key learnings, lessons, and recommendations from urban air mobility pilots carried out in Hamburg, Stockholm, and Helsinki during CITYAM project’s second and third years.
Each lead city developed and tested two non-commercial drone use cases designed to support municipal services, including infrastructure inspections, healthcare, and other public-sector needs. These real-world demonstrations provided valuable insights into how drone technology can enhance urban services safely and efficiently.
The report also examines a range of infrastructure concepts essential for future urban air mobility. These included a fixed landing site in Hamburg, a rooftop drone-in-a-box station in Stockholm, and temporary landing areas in cases of emergency response tested in Helsinki.
Together, the flight demonstrations and infrastructure evaluations offer practical guidance for cities seeking to initiate or scale urban air mobility operations. The findings aim to support municipalities across Europe and beyond as they work on urban air mobility integration in their cities.
