Strengthening Social Innovation in Agder: 3rd Strategy Lab and Gathering of Social Innovators

03 December 2025
Agder County Council hosted a Strategy Lab with Social Innovators to explore Mission-Oriented Innovation Policy Approaches
Technical details

The recent gathering brought together key actors from Agder’s expanding social entrepreneurship ecosystem — passionate entrepreneurs, dedicated supporters, and organisations working to advance social innovation in the region. Together, they explored the future of social entrepreneurship and contributed to the third Strategy Lab. 🌱🤝

With nearly 60 participants, the strong turnout showed growing momentum in the field. While broader geographic representation from across the county would have been ideal, the energy, engagement, and diversity of voices made the event a clear success.

Throughout the day, participants deepened their understanding of what social entrepreneurship means in practice, inspired by examples ranging from commercially driven initiatives to grassroots efforts. Thanks to a skilled host, the programme flowed smoothly and created a warm, motivating atmosphere. 🎤

Panel discussions and group sessions sparked important conversations:

  • What defines a social entrepreneur, and why is their work essential?
  • What barriers stand in their way — from funding and regulations to collaboration challenges with the public sector?
  • Which societal needs in Agder remain unmet, and who has the capacity to address them?

Participants especially valued the inspiring talks, cross-sector networking opportunities, and reflective group discussions. Clear communication, a well-structured programme, and personal stories — such as Chris’ journey — added depth and emotional resonance.

A key part of the programme was the third Strategy Lab, hosted by Agder County Council. Here, participants contributed directly to developing a regionally adapted Mission-Oriented Innovation Policy (MOIP) guide, developed within the frame of the RESIST project. The event confirmed not only the strong and growing interest in social entrepreneurship in Agder, but also the need for a better-defined ecosystem, stronger networks, and more practical support for entrepreneurs. 🛠️

With continued engagement and strategic focus, Agder is well on its way to becoming one of Norway’s leading regions for social innovation and social entrepreneurship.
