Update from CPH: Murder on the Boolean Express goes live: Spreading the news

19 June 2025
Technical details

The Copenhagen team is proud to share that Murder on the Boolean Express, a choose-your-own-adventure text based game made in Twine, is now live on the Open Educational Resource website learninglib.  Try out it out here: https://learninglib.org/2025/03/24/murder-on-the-boolean-express/?_thumbnail_id=2160

The primary learning goal with the game is for the player to learn Boolean operators in order to more efficiently search for information.  The player takes the role of a grizzled veteran detective, Schou, and must go around collecting evidence and noting it down in a trusty notebook.  In playing this role, the player also inhabits what philosopher C. Thi Nguyen calls a “disposable agency”[1] that translates to the work of information searching.

The game is licensed with a Creative Commons attribution license, meaning it open to remix, translation, and reinterpretation.  The file is hosted on Github, the link for which can be found on the game’s page.

We are now at work spreading the word about the resource, having held two sessions with different teaching groups at the university library.
