Library Ideas Fair 2025 Showcases Innovation at the National Library of Latvia
20 May 2025
25 April, the Library Ideas Fair 2025 was held at the National Library of Latvia, bringing together around 250 library professionals and enthusiasts from across the country. The event was part of the Library Association of Latvia’s annual congress, which this year was held under the theme: “Involvement, Collaboration, Development – The Foundation of Library Success.”
At the forum, Latvian Baltic-UKH team members Guna Baumgarte and Iveta Krūmiņa presented a poster introducing one of the project’s key upcoming deliverables: a toolbox of practical guidelines designed to support the development of services and spaces through co-creation. Their presentation offered attendees an early look at the 4C model and its relevance to the Latvian pilot project.
The project’s practical outcomes were showcased in the newly enhanced Youth Space of the library. Visitors had the opportunity to explore the redesigned area and experience how the library is evolving into a more open, dynamic, and youth-friendly environment.
To further engage participants, attendees were invited to try out 3D-printed balance games developed by the Youth Architects’ Club Atelpa, adding a playful and creative element to the event.
The poster received positive feedback from the audience, and the Latvian library community is now looking forward to the completion of the toolbox. The full version will be translated into Latvian and distributed this autumn to local librarians and public sector stakeholders.
