AdFiS products GmbH from Mecklenburg-Vorpommern produces around 1,800 tons of activated carbon every year, making it the market leader in Germany since 2014. Its special activated carbon is used for desulphurization, air purification and the removal of siloxanes and ammonia, among other things. It plays a key role in biogas, sewage gas and landfill gas purification.

But there are challenges: How can the activation of coal be made more energy-efficient? Are there alternative starting materials and binders that make production more sustainable?
