From Concept to Creation: The New Corporate Visual Identity
07 February 2025
A Vision for more livable cities
The Liveability Project is dedicated to designing public services for resilient neighbourhoods and fostering vibrant, sustainable, and inclusive urban spaces. The Liveable City label—focused on small- and medium-sized cities—encourages efforts to make cities more liveable. Guided by principles of collaboration, learning, and curiosity, the project fosters innovation and inclusivity in urban development.
Collaboration Through Creativity
Aligned with its core values, the Liveability Project embraced an innovative approach to developing its Corporate Visual Identity (CVI). Rather than relying on a traditional design agency, the CVI emerged from a design competition launched in November 2023 in collaboration with the Estonian Academy of Arts (EKA). Design students and recent graduates were tasked with creating a visual identity for the “Liveable City” label and the network, showcasing the impact of liveability on cities.
The CVI serves as a strategic tool, visually expressing the project’s mission and values. It ensures a cohesive identity, clearly conveys the vision, and fosters lasting connections with people and partners.
The winning proposal came from a team of talented design students from the Academy of Fine Arts in Gdańsk, Poland. Izabela Miechowicz, Margarita Giegiel, Rozalia Michalska, Ignacy Kulka, and Olga Suchorscy impressed with their vibrant and thoughtful concept. Their design masterfully balanced a solid conceptual framework with playful, dynamic elements, encapsulating the essence of the project.
The team’s collaborative approach combined diverse skills in logo and website design, social media content, and animation, translating complex ideas into a compelling visual identity. Launched in July 2024, the CVI includes design elements such as color schemes, typography, icons, and animations, ensuring consistent communication across platforms. This new identity stands as a cornerstone of the network’s branding and its vision for sustainable and inclusive urban development.
A Design With a Mission – Four symbols, one Corporate Mark
At the heart of the new CVI is the Corporate Mark, a design that integrates four powerful symbols, each reflecting a key aspect of ideal urban life.
Fig. 1. – Each symbol in the logo represents a key aspect of ideal urban life.
- The human figure symbolizes community and connection in urban living.
- The flower represents eco-friendly, sustainable cities.
- The crossroads reflect the energy and dynamism of city life.
- The aim signifies the pursuit of ideal living spaces that fulfill aspirations.
These symbols form a unified label that represents a city’s essence while conveying the core values of community, sustainability, energy, and aspiration. The flower, created from these elements, also reflects the Liveability Design Approach: Blooming Cities, symbolizing cities thriving with sustainability and inclusivity.

The Project is shaping the future of cities—one design at a time. Together, we can create cities that bloom with opportunity, resilience and liveability.
