The project belongs to Stockholm municipal housing company Familjebostäder and it’s situated in Oldmästaren (district of Bromma) in Stockholm. Their plan is to construct 87 apartments. The purpose is to create better indoor air quality with Miljöbyggnad gold-level certification, which means building with “best available techniques” currently on the market.
Sweden Green Building Council Miljöbyggnad is a requirement agreed on company level. It used to be a city-wide requirement for all municipal housing companies to build with Miljöbyggnad, silver-level. Most companies kept this goal as an internal decision when the city adjusted its requirements. This project aims for gold-level and will certify that it suceeded through 3rd party assessment of all criteria.
The aim is to meet the demands for tox-free building, reduce climate emissions from construction materials and to re-use some materials. Building materials, especially for indoor use, have to be checked for harmful substances as well as catalogued in a logbook. Stockholm municipality requires its municipal companies to build an increasing number of solar panels on both new buildings and on its pre-existing housing stock. Companies in the city can/should use the City’s electricity deal that is water- and solar-power only.
Familjebostäder has increased demands from the City’s Chemical plan, and aim to reduce unwanted materials (undocumented or substances of concern) to below 3% of all construction materials logged in the Byggvarubedömningen (BVB) logbook.
Stockholm has a cross-functional project implementation team, e.g., architect, construction expert, engineering expert. The stakeholders are Environmental and Health administration and professionals from Familjebostäder, from construction company and also sub-contractors and material suppliers; Sweden Green Building Council.
