This autumn, SkellefteĆ„ Kraft, together with BioFuel Region, have been searching for a solution to provide a better and more quality-assured overview of the biomass at the combined heat and power plants. The goal is to transition from today’s partially manual handling to a more digital system. Here is SkellefteĆ„ Kraft’s motivation for the winning solution
“With an impressive pitch and their approach to addressing the problem, starting from where we currently stand, we can secure the existing data and the knowledge we already have. By beginning with the available data and remaining open to incorporating additional data as needed, we can pursue stepwise progress. With a curious and proactive approach, we believe that together we can find a path that creates value for both the short and long term”, says Anna SƤfvestad Albinsson, Projectleader at SkellefteĆ„ Kraft.
Elvenite, who participated in and won the Valio Hackathon last year, also presented a winning solution at this hackathon.
“We started with an idea but it has been developed, even during the mentor session where we met all the mentors and get even more information about the problem so we have been quite open minded in terms on how we want to attack this”, says the winner Christian von Koch, Senior Machine Learning Engineer at Elvenite.
We look forward to the continuation of this newly initiated collaboration, and perhaps in the near future, we will see a solution that others can benefit from in the transition to more digital systems.
Finally, a big thank you to all the other teams and mentors that participated as well, it was inspiring, educational, and so much fun to have you all with us. We hope you’ve found new connections and opportunities for future collaborations!
SkellefteƄ Kraft hackathon is part of the international BioBoosters project, led by Jamk University of Applied Sciences and co-funded by the Interreg Baltic Sea Region Programme. The project brings together nine innovation networks in the bioeconomy sector from countries around the Baltic Sea: Finland, Sweden, the Baltic States, Poland, and Germany. The project organizes 18 Hackathons to support responsible business practices and the transition to a circular economy for bioeconomy companies.
