Circular Spaces Newsletter #3: Driving Sustainability in Makerspaces

25 September 2024
The Circular Spaces project has just released its third newsletter, packed with exciting updates and initiatives aimed at promoting sustainability in makerspaces.
Technical details

Headlining the newsletter is the announcement of the Circular spaces International Conference, set to take place on October 10-11, 2024, in Copenhagen. This highly anticipated event will gather makers, designers, policymakers, and sustainability advocates to explore circular economy practices. Attendees can look forward to hands-on workshops, expert presentations, and exhibitions highlighting innovation in sustainable design and materials reuse.

In addition to the conference, the newsletter highlights free training sessions available across Latvia, Germany, Norway, and Denmark. These sessions are based on the developed training program focused on nine key topics in circular economy, offering both physical and virtual participation options.

The project has launched a Digital Circular Collaboration Tool, enabling makers and businesses to network and share sustainable practices. Moreover, a key feature introduced in this edition is the Circular Maturity Test, a self-assessment tool designed to help makerspaces, SMEs, startups, and suppliers gauge their level of circularity. Makerspaces achieving specific results can earn a circularity label, enhancing their visibility within the sustainability community.

The newsletter also showcases the release of a comprehensive guide, “Transformation into Circular Makerspaces: A Practical Step-by-Step Guide”, which provides actionable steps for transitioning makerspaces toward circularity, complete with tools and templates to support the process.
