Project GYPREG at Tractor Day 2024 in Latvia

On June 29, the annual Tractor Day took place in Tērvete, Latvia. Organized by Zemnieku saeima (Farmers’ Parliament), this is the largest agriculture-themed event in Latvia. During Tractor Day, farmers and other stakeholders gather to discuss current topics in the agricultural sector and participate in various activities, such as the traditional trailer-towing competition. Valainis, and the Speaker of the Latvian Parliament, Daiga Mieriņa.

This year, Zemnieku Saeima and Latvian Institute of Aquatic Ecology presented the Interreg project “GYPREG”, which introduces soil treatment with gypsum to reduce phosphorus run-off from farmlands. Attendees also had the opportunity to observe and touch gypsum and participate in an interactive game called of “Circus”, which aimed to raise awareness about nature protection.
