Making change together: Results and reflections from the Lakes Connect Project

20 March 2024
It's incredibly gratifying to learn that decision-makers value the outcomes of our project. Change becomes achievable when all stakeholders share a common vision.
Technical details

Recently, our project partner, the Siauliai Chamber of Commerce, Industry, and Crafts, organized a meeting attended by the Mayor and other officials of the Telsiai District Municipality. During this event, we shared the results of the Lakes Connect project.

While the pollution of Lake Mastis wasn’t unexpected, ongoing preventative measures are being implemented. However, the findings and recommendations provided by Latvian and Polish scientists were met with appreciation and will be thoroughly considered.

Surprisingly, the pollution of Lake Germantas came as unexpected news, prompting us to allocate more attention and schedule additional sampling.

” Only due to this project I became aware about microplastic pollution, its danger, and I have ideas for further activities of our institution to prevent it.” remarked Andrius Bajorunas, Advisor of Zemaitija Protected Areas Directorate, Varniai Regional Park Group.

The collective efforts of each attendee, taking small personal steps to mitigate plastic pollution, are now underway.

Together, we can make a significant difference!
