A perfect recipe for consolidating project solutions

How to shape a project platform application that strategically consolidates results from several projects and funds for a higher impact? The workshop held in Riga on 7 October 2025 offered platform developers a recipe for success!

Bigger, better and more impactful
Every great idea starts with a bold vision. The workshop participants clearly envision a more sustainable, climate-friendly, and resilient Baltic Sea region. They hope for more skilled societies, where people are well taken care of and given equal opportunities. They dream of our region being simply better.
One of the keys to this bright future lies in smart and replicable Interreg solutions spreading across orders. Yet, when multiple solutions remain scattered, their potential impact can fade. This is when project platforms step in: the Programme’s key tool for capitalisation. Project platforms are designed to consolidate and build upon project results from various projects and EU funds, to trigger knowledge transfer, and exert stronger policy impacts. Together!
Capitalisation in action
During this hands-on workshop, platform developers explored a clear recipe and received multiple practical tips on how to turn their visions, sealed in golden envelopes at the start of the workshop, into ambitious yet achievable project platforms. Ilga Gruševa from the Ministry of Smart Administration and Regional Development of Latvia, opened the event, encouraging participants to seize the opportunity and think big.
So, what’s in the recipe? Clear outcomes, well-defined target groups, strong partnerships, a thought-through workplan and finances, and powerful communication, all spiced up with transnational teamwork across projects and funds. The bar for platform developers is set high! Project platforms are also the Operations of Strategic Importance, which substantially contribute to the Programme’s objectives. In this particular call, applicants synthesise solutions across topics such as resilient and smart territories, social innovation, closing the water and nutrient loop, safe navigation at sea, circular goods systems, as well as uptake of alternative fuels.
What’s next?
The Riga workshop was a key step in helping applicants level up their project platform ideas into fully developed applications. The deadline for submission is 20 November 2025. We keep fingers crossed for all 16 transnational teams working on their project platforms proposals!
