Coastal areas in Lithuania, Latvia, and Poland are increasingly affected by erosion, climate change, and tourism pressure. Grey dunes, rare coastal habitats, play a key role in protecting shorelines, supporting biodiversity, and sustaining nature-based tourism, yet they are rapidly degrading. Local authorities, NGOs, and protected area managers face similar challenges but lack coordinated tools and strategies. The project strengthens cooperation to support the sustainable use of coastal resources and contributes to a resilient blue economy. It will develop a Joint Baltic Grey Dune Restoration Plan with country-specific annexes and implement pilot restoration actions in Latvia and Lithuania to test practical solutions. In addition, the project will create educational and communication tools, including a documentary, leaflets, podcasts, and citizen science materials. These outputs will help stakeholders raise awareness, engage communities, and promote responsible tourism and nature-based coastal management. By improving knowledge exchange, stakeholder capacity, and coordinated action, the project supports sustainable coastal ecosystems and enhances their economic and environmental value across the Baltic Sea region.
