Project Partner promotion - Bornholm

On May 23 Hanna Berggren from Kalmar Municipality arranged a study visit with Sara Björkqvist from Bornholms Energi and Forsyning to Öland, where they did visit one of the local utility companies (Borgholm Energi).

Their environmental engineer gave a presentation about the following:

• The use of wetlands for infiltration to new groundwater, and the restoration of wetlands for this purpose
• The use of rainwater in an urban environment (small stream/ lake in a residential area)
• Reuse of wastewater for agricultural irrigation (animal feed) at one of their WWTP

 They did visit a couple of the restored wetlands.  It was interesting to be able to visit another island in the Baltic Sea to learn about their challenges and solutions regarding water supply and use/ reuse of water.
