Technical details

As the TRUST ALUM project is almost finalised, we’re thrilled to introduce a dedicated page where everyone can now follow Lake Velnezers journey.  We installed two informative signs at pilot Lake Velnezers as the final touch in our project and long-term reminder of all the good work we have done. Positioned for easy visibility, the sign features a QR code that directs visitors to interactive homepage revealing the scientific data, monitoring progress and impact of the treatment.

Once scanned, the QR code brings you to homepage hosted by the lead partner Latvian Institute of Aquatic Ecology (LHEI). There, you’ll bet able to:

  • Learn why Lake Velnezers was chosen for the first aluminum (ALUM) treatment in the Baltics.

  • Understand the method and dosage used, along with the mobile treatment process via a specially designed boat.

  • View data showing improvements in water clarity, phosphorus reduction, and ecosystem response. Monthly monitoring and early signs of enhanced water quality are featured.

  • Discover the outcomes of the fish surveys, both preliminary and final, highlighting the lake’s biological response to the alum treatment and confirming its safety for aquatic life.

  • Stay updated on upcoming data analysis and final results from the Trust ALUM initiative.

This sign not only marks the project’s conclusion in the field but also invites the public to explore the scientific journey behind Lake Velnezers’ transformation. From technical details to ecological insights, the homepage unpacks it all, so scan, dig in, and see restoration in action!
