Final Fish Survey in Lake Velnezers

02 August 2025
Final fish survey in Lake Velnezers completed to assess fish recovery and confirm treatment safety.
Technical details

This summer marked the final round of scientific fish survey in our pilot Lake Velnezers as part of the TRUST ALUM project. Following the 2023 preliminary survey – which revealed challenging conditions for fish populations – and a major stakeholder event that brought local attention to the lake’s restoration, our team returned to evaluate the progress.

The goal: to see how fish communities have responded to the lake treatment and to confirm that the method has been safe for aquatic life. In addition to species data, researchers collected tissue samples to assess fish health and ensure that the alum treatment used in the restoration process has not posed any long-term risks to aquatic organisms.

The results will help us better understand the effectiveness and safety of lake restoration methods – and continue building trust in nature-based water management.

Stay tuned for the final data analysis and detailed findings!
