Cleanup at Lake Velnezers approved by Latvian superhero - Pigman

Last Saturday, project team in collaboration with the Juglas Development Organization and local residents, came together for a big clean-up event at Lake Velnezers. To our surprise, even the Latvian superhero Pigman (Cūkmens) noticed our efforts! As part of the nationwide Big clean-up  initiative (Lielā talka 2024), we were proud to be one of over a thousand officially registered sites participating in this event and among two places visited by the Pigman itself.

We thank more than 30 cleanup participants and Latvian superhero Pigman for making Lake Velnezers surroundings cleaner!

We started our day with the hard work of cleaning our Lake Velnezers surroundings for the upcoming summer season. After a good work, we all enjoyed some well-deserved rest, snacks and games. It’s incredible what we can achieve when we come together!

We collected a lot of waste, but among the more unusual items retrieved were a mattress forgotten in the lake and a sledge. These finds serve as a strict reminder from Pigman: Do not litter in the Lake Velnezers, or you might turn into a pig! 🐖
