About us

Association “Klaipėda Region” is a non-profit regional development organization uniting six municipalities in Western Lithuania to strengthen cooperation and represent our members on national and international levels. Beyond regional advocacy, we actively participate in EU-funded projects to drive sustainable development, particularly through tourism and socioeconomic growth. The TourRBaltic project represents a natural next step in continuing to develop these two main priorities.

Our focus area: Klaipeda region

In Lithuania, TourRBaltic focuses on the Klaipėda region – a dynamic and geographically diverse destination where urban centers, coastal resorts, rural landscapes, and unique water environments converge. The region features a varied cycling ecosystem: while its urban and coastal resort municipalities already benefit from well-developed biking routes and established tourist infrastructure, its inland rural municipalities represent areas where bike networks, services, and local tourism offerings still need further development.

By addressing these regional contrasts, TourRBaltic brings active mobility initiatives to where they are needed most. Connecting established coastal routes with expanding rural networks allows the Klaipėda region to demonstrate the full potential of bike tourism – fostering sustainable local growth while advancing accessible, low-carbon travel for everyone.

How Association Klaipeda Region contributes to TourRBaltic

As a partner in TourRBaltic, Association Klaipėda Region offers regional expertise and coordination in the Klaipėda region, our focus area in Western Lithuania. Our organization has well established experience in stakeholder engagement and as thematic leader for local context engagement in TourRBaltic, we will be co-designing participatory frameworks to analyze local mobility needs and accessibility challenges across the Baltic region. Additionally, we will be conducting active mobility route assessments in the Klaipeda Region rural municipalities to deliver new route extensions and descriptive materials. We are very excited to use bike tourism to revitalize our rural areas and empower communities to embrace their sustainable travel potential.

“True regional success is built on meaningful collaboration and open dialogue between municipalities and their communities. We are excited to bring TourRBaltic to life – not just to contribute to designing bike routes, but to foster sustainable travel that revives our rural landscapes and connects us with partners across the Baltic. “

— Viktorija Paldauskė, Managing Director of the Association Klaipėda Region
