In the MainPotRe project, the collaboration established between countries with similar views on the conservation of biodiversity and the maintenance and distribution of local potato varieties as part of this diversity, has created the opportunity to develop a joint position paper on the EU proposal for a Regulation on the production and marketing of plant reproductive material (PRM). Project partners AREI, METK, and LUKE had several rounds of discussions focusing on aspects that could promote the maintenance and distribution of seed potatoes of local and heritage varieties to small growers. This position has been submitted to the European Commission using the “Have your say” platform.
