– It’s great that so many wanted to join. This is exactly what we need more of – hands-on engagement and curiosity about nature, says Mikael Melin from the local County Administration Board, who also guided participants in the practical work.
The day was organized by Biosphere Reserve Nedre Dalälven in collaboration with the local County Administration Board, Säters Fishing Preserving Association, and Nature and Youth Sweden. Signe Rönnergård, responsible at Nature and Youth Sweden, highlighted the participants’ commitment:
– Many young people want to contribute in practical ways but don’t always know how or where to begin.
For the participants, the day was an opportunity to turn theory into practice. Moa Eriksson Kukkonen said:
– It felt good to be involved and realize there are concrete things one can do.
Elis Bergman added:
– Restoration can feel abstract, but it can be simpler than expected. It’s encouraging to see that even basic methods can be effective.
The day showed that nature conservation can be practical, educational, and open to anyone who wants to get involved.
