What Do Seniors in Germany Need?

Our research highlights several key challenges and priorities for older adults in Germany. Everyday concerns include mobility issues, especially concerning daily shopping, laundry and visits to the doctor, while loneliness and social isolation remain significant.

Interestingly, Germany was the only country in the study where “lack of knowledge and competence” was highlighted as a barrier — showing that support in navigating services and technologies is crucial.

Above all, seniors emphasized the importance of social integration and participation. Staying connected to the community, maintaining meaningful relationships, and being included in everyday life were seen as just as essential as safe and accessible living environments.
