What Do Seniors in Finland Need?
27 August 2025
Our latest findings reveal the top priorities for improving life for older adults in Finland:
🧓 Mobility and house chores are the biggest daily life challenges
🚿 Bathrooms are the most accident-prone areas
💬 Social interaction is key to emotional well-being
These insights come from surveys, expert interview, and national literature review offering a holistic picture of aging in Finland. While the project focuses on designing better assisted living environments, the findings reflect the broader realities many seniors face.
In Finland, seniors often stay in their homes until daily routines become too hard to manage alone. When they do move, what they value most is warmth: familiar belongings, meaningful company, and shared spaces that feel like home. Not everyone can afford better care but many dream of a small, social place near nature and community, where life still feels like their own.
