Technical details

The SEABAS project platform kick-off meeting was held on 8-9 September in sunny Helsinki! Together, the project partners identified the building blocks for the platform and laid the foundation, which will fuel our work for the next 2,5 years of collaboration. In the SEABAS project, we are building an online platform that will serve marine spatial planners and decision makers in the Baltic Sea region. The aim is to establish a framework for integrating Strategic Environmental Assessment (SEA) in Maritime Spatial Planning (MSP) across the Baltic Sea region, and strengthen the role of MSP in promoting a sustainable blue economy and enhancing the management of human activities at sea as a key element of the ecosystem-based approach.

SEABAS builds on the outcomes of previous projects, such as MSP – GREEN eMSP NBSR, Baltic LINes, Baltic Sea2Land, PROTECT BALTIC, MSP4BIO, ReMAP, and MAREA.

The project is co-funded by EU and Interreg Baltic Sea Region, and has nine partners from six Baltic Sea countries.
