Public discussion on Daugava River highlights “ReNutriWater” project’s innovative approach to reclaimed water

As the Daugava River remains one of Latvia’s most critical waterways—integral to the country’s environment, economy, and cultural heritage—the event underscored the urgent need for innovative solutions to safeguard its future. Against this backdrop, the ReNutriWater project was presented by Assistant Professor Oskars Purmalis and Professor Māris Klavins from the University of Latvia. They presented the project’s pioneering approach to addressing water stress through reclaimed water reuse and nutrient recovery. The presentation not only highlighted the significance of these methods but also showcased the ongoing pilot projects in Latvia that have potential impact on local water management practices.
