PestSpace at the MycoRiseUp! Youth in Mycology Conference 2026

22 June 2026
From 5–7 June 2026, the PestSpace project was represented at the MycoRiseUp! Youth in Mycology Conference held in Chęciny, Poland.
Technical details

During the conference, Asli Cimen (Institute of Plant Genetics, Polish Academy of Sciences) presented a poster prepared in collaboration with Maksymillian Nowak (University of Warsaw), entitled:

“Botrytis spp. can be detected and identified from the leaves of faba bean using Oxford Nanopore Technology.”

The poster demonstrated the application of Oxford Nanopore sequencing for the detection and identification of Botrytis species directly from faba bean leaves. The study highlighted the potential of innovative molecular approaches to support rapid and accurate plant pathogen diagnostics, contributing to improved plant health monitoring.

The conference brought together young researchers in mycology, plant pathology, and related disciplines, providing an excellent platform for scientific exchange, networking, and discussion of current challenges in fungal and plant disease research.

Participation in the conference also increased the visibility of the PestSpace project within the scientific community and created opportunities to establish new collaborations and share knowledge on innovative approaches to plant disease detection and management.
