PestSpace at AgroEco2026: Advancing Digital Solutions for Plant Health
29 October 2026
The conference, entitled “Agroecosystem Sustainability: Links between Carbon Sequestration in Soils, Food Security and Climate Change” brought together researchers and experts to exchange knowledge and discuss innovative approaches to sustainable agriculture, soil health, biodiversity conservation, and climate change adaptation.
Bringing PestSpace to the scientific community
The PestSpace project was presented through a scientific contribution entitled “Enhancing Phytosanitary Resilience in the Baltic Sea Region: An Integrated Common Data Space and Smart Monitoring Ecosystem for Crop Protection,” authored by Assoc. Prof. Sonata Kazlauskaitė, Assoc. Prof. Darija Jodaugienė, and Assoc. Prof. Povilas Mulerčikas.
The contribution introduced the project’s approach to strengthening plant health monitoring, improving the early detection of plant pests and diseases, and facilitating the exchange of information across the Baltic Sea region.
Connecting science, technology and agriculture
Implemented under the Interreg Baltic Sea Region Programme, PestSpace aims to improve resilience to the spread of plant pests and diseases by developing a regional Pest Common Data Space.
The project brings together partners from across the Baltic Sea region to advance innovative monitoring solutions, including digital technologies, artificial intelligence, and environmental DNA (eDNA) analysis. By improving access to reliable plant health data and supporting cross-border information exchange, PestSpace seeks to enable more effective and coordinated responses to emerging phytosanitary threats.
These activities contribute to strengthening cooperation between researchers, agricultural stakeholders, and relevant institutions, while supporting more informed and sustainable approaches to crop protection.
Strengthening cooperation across the Baltic Sea region
The presentation at AgroEco2026 provided a valuable opportunity to introduce PestSpace to the wider scientific community and highlight the importance of digital innovation and international collaboration in addressing plant health challenges.
By connecting scientific research, technological development, and agricultural practice, PestSpace contributes to building more resilient agroecosystems and supporting sustainable crop production across the Baltic Sea region.
