Not just a vacation – We're working outdoors

18 July 2025
Summer is in full swing, but for our team, it's a time of intense fieldwork. We're preparing experimental fields to build an innovative system for identifying crop pathogens and pests.
Technical details

In Poland, at the experimental station in Wrócikowo, we are currently growing faba beans – 10 different varieties across 40 experimental plots. Every few weeks, our scientists inspect the plants, observing their development, the first signs of disease, and the appearance of pests. The results will later be compared with studies conducted by partners in other countries.

Fieldwork means facing daily weather conditions, carefully documenting plant status, collecting samples, and taking countless photos in sun and wind. Each plant is meticulously photographed, and selected samples are sent for DNA analysis in the lab.

This is just the beginning – over time, the PestSpace system’s database will grow thanks to the collaborative efforts of all project partners.

We’ll keep you updated on each stage of the experiment so you can follow our progress.
