🎬Latvian partners visit Poland — the power of collaboration

22 July 2025
From 15 to 18 June 2025, partners from the Latvia University of Life Sciences and Technologies visited an experimental fava bean field in Poland. The visit focused on sharing knowledge and methods for monitoring plant health.
Technical details

The programme included fieldwork and laboratory sessions at the experimental station in Wrócikowo and in the laboratories.

In the field, researchers looked for early signs of disease in fava bean crops. They exchanged observations and compared pest situations in Poland and Latvia.

In the lab, the Polish team showed how they use nanopore sequencing — a fast, portable DNA testing method that works even on samples collected straight from the field. It helps detect plant diseases before any visible symptoms appear.

The visit demonstrated how the skills and knowledge of international partners help develop better tools and improve our understanding of plant health.

Working together is not only about technology — it’s also about creating a shared approach to protecting crops across the Baltic Sea region.
