📸 Project in Action: Field Data Collection and Plant Health Monitoring

23 June 2026
We are pleased to share a snapshot from our ongoing work within the PestSpace project. The photo, also used in our project communication materials, shows one of our team members collecting data with the mobile phone in an experimental field in Smolice.
Technical details

It captures an important part of our daily activities – monitoring plant health directly in the field using mobile tools. In real time, we document plant diseases and pests, take photos of symptoms, and upload the data into our PlutoF system for further analysis.

This field-based work is one of the first steps in our workflow. The next step takes place in the laboratory, where we continue detailed assessments of plant health. This simple but effective “field-to-lab” approach enables fast, accurate, and scalable monitoring of crop conditions. It supports better understanding of plant health dynamics and contributes to improved decision-making in sustainable plant protection.

The photo also illustrates how PestSpace work is translated into communication and outreach materials, showing everyday research practice behind the project.
