Summer dreams at Baltic sea: NURSECOAST-II animation

05 February 2024
The new animation shows how the NURSECOAST-II project is working on solutions to keep the Baltic Sea clean during the summer tourism season.
Technical details

Every year over 250 million tourists visit the countries around the Baltic Sea. Coastal areas and towns can get up to 20 times more people during the summer season.

However, wastewater treatment systems are often designed with the winter population in mind. This means that wastewater systems cannot properly treat the summertime wastewater, causing unpleasant smells in the tourist areas, and too many nutrients in the sea.

As a part of the international NURSECOAST-II project, we are working on solutions to keep the Baltic Sea clean during the summer tourism season. How? Watch the video and learn more.

PS! The video is available in all Baltic Sea region languages (select subtitles).
