KidsLikeUs Multigenerational Planting Chest Debuts in Krakow

09 November 2025
Technical details

A prototype from the KidsLikeUs project — a chest designed for multigenerational planting — will be presented at the ALL IN(clusive) exhibition in Galeria Podbrzezie, ul. Podbrzezie 3, Kraków. The gallery adopted the solution from our project for their show, demonstrating a smooth path from research to public display.

Gardening has a positive impact on well-being – it reduces stress, improves mood and helps cope with loneliness – but with age comes fatigue, back pain, problems with balance or bending, which often prevent seniors from caring for their plants.

The “Veg-get-able” plant growing chest supports the idea of creating spaces for residents to integrate, ensuring accessibility for everyone regardless of age or mobility limitations. This piece of furniture enables collaborative work for wheelchair users, seniors who face difficulty when bending, and children who can stand on a retractable platform to reach plants.

Contemporary design increasingly moves away from viewing objects as isolated artworks and toward seeing them as connectors: between people, places and experiences. Our prototype showcases this human-centered and inclusive approach, where real users — with specific needs, limits and emotions — are the starting point and goal of design.
