HybReDe at eHealth: Exploring the Future of AI, Health Data, and Interoperability
23 October 2026
The HybReDe project was proudly represented at the eHealth conference by Turku University of Applied Science personnel with the poster Understanding Regulatory Boundaries of Generative AI Virtual Assistants for Symptom Management in Multiple Sclerosis Care. We also contributed to the poster Governance-Aware RAG for Literature Pre-Screening and Evidence Retrieval in Healthcare Research, showcasing how generative AI can support healthcare research through more efficient evidence retrieval and literature screening.
The conference provided an inspiring overview of the rapidly evolving European digital health landscape. Particularly interesting sessions focused on the use of European health data for health system evaluation and the opportunities emerging through the European Health Data Space (EHDS).
Another valuable experience was participating in the workshop Building Interoperability Capacity for the European Health Data Space (EHDS). The workshop explored how education and training can support the implementation of the EHDS by strengthening interoperability competencies among developers, implementers, and end users of health data solutions.
Overall, EHDS was one of the dominant themes throughout the event. Discussions around health data sharing, interoperability, governance, and the responsible use of AI highlighted how important these topics have become for the future of healthcare. The insights gained from the conference strongly resonate with the goals of the HybReDe project and will help shape our ongoing work in developing and implementing AI-supported solutions for healthcare and rehabilitation.
In addition to the formal programme, the conference offered excellent opportunities for networking and exchanging ideas with fellow researchers. We had inspiring discussions with colleagues working on related topics, and we hope these connections will lead to new collaborations and future project partnerships.
This year’s eHealth conference left us with fresh ideas, new contacts, and renewed enthusiasm for advancing AI-enabled healthcare and rehabilitation solutions.
