HAZGONE releases v1.0 of the Inventory of Key Employable Solutions on hazardous substances
16 April 2026
The HAZGONE project has released version 1.0 of the Inventory of Key Employable Solutions.
Developed within GoA 1.1, the inventory sets an important foundation for the HAZGONE platform and its wider objective of connecting upstream and downstream measures for improved hazardous substances governance. It provides a structured overview of around 50 externally funded projects and hundreds of identified outputs and solutions, collected from publicly available sources and through direct engagement with project partners and stakeholders.
Bringing existing knowledge together
Over the past years, a significant amount of work has been carried out in the Baltic Sea region to address challenges related to hazardous substances. However, project results are often scattered across individual project websites, reports and repositories, making it difficult for stakeholders to gain a comprehensive overview or quickly identify material relevant to their current work.
The Inventory of Key Employable Solutions addresses this challenge by compiling project information into a single, accessible table. For each project, the inventory records core details such as:
- the type and description of outputs and solutions,
- thematic focus and year of publication,
- original target groups,
- and contact details and information of responsible projects.
Supporting cross-sectoral use of results
One of the central aims of the HAZGONE platform is to better connect upstream prevention measures and downstream mitigation and management approaches. By presenting projects and outputs side by side, regardless of their original focus, the inventory supports cross-dissemination of knowledge between different stakeholder groups.
This holistic view makes it easier for authorities, practitioners, researchers and other actors to:
- identify existing solutions relevant to their tasks,
- explore how results developed for one context could benefit others,
- and avoid duplication by building on what already exists.
The inventory is intended not only as a reference tool, but as a starting point for dialogue, cooperation and reuse of existing knowledge across the region.
A living resource
Version 1.0 marks the first public release of the inventory. The current content is based on information collected between September 2025 and April 2026, using official project sources and direct inputs from partners. As outlined in the project design, the inventory is a living deliverable.
New projects will continue to emerge, and previously overlooked results may be identified. Therefore, the inventory will be updated periodically until July 2028, with additional projects, solutions and refined analyses added over time. Stakeholders are warmly invited to point out corrections, missing projects or relevant new materials for consideration in future versions.
Foundation for further HAZGONE activities
The inventory serves as a key foundation for subsequent HAZGONE work. Its content will directly feed into other groups of activities, supporting further analysis, stakeholder engagement, and targeted dissemination efforts.
By making the inventory publicly available, the project aims to increase the longevity, visibility and practical use of hazardous substances–related results beyond the original scope of individual projects, strengthening transnational value across the Baltic Sea region.
