Hydrogen Dialogues and Market Insights Across Europe in October 2025
05 November 2025
In October 2025, the H2Derivatives@BalticSeaPorts project undertook a series of strategic communication actions to advance hydrogen adoption and stakeholder engagement across the Baltic Sea Region.
On 9 October, the project participated in the 20th Baltic Transport Forum, focusing on hydrogen and its derivatives as emerging energy carriers in transport. The event gathered experts from shipping, rail, bus, and aviation sectors, along with research institutions and international stakeholders, to discuss practical applications, infrastructure needs, and regulatory perspectives. H2Deri@BSP shared insights on hydrogen and ammonia integration in ports with other participants and explored opportunities for advancing cooperation, highlighting the ongoing project actions.
On 15 October, the project engaged with the EUSBSR PA Ship Operational Group, presenting preliminary findings from its market analysis on hydrogen and hydrogen derivatives in the Baltic Sea Region. The discussion highlighted current demand, supply, and regulatory frameworks, noting that while policies support initial uptake, they remain insufficient for large-scale deployment. The meeting offered a platform to align project insights with broader green shipping initiatives and plan strategies to promote hydrogen adoption in regional ports. The full market analysis report is expected to provide a comprehensive overview of opportunities and challenges in the maritime sector.
From 21–23 October, H2Deri@BSP participated in the Hydrogen World Expo at Hamburg, engaging with stakeholders at both congress sessions and the exhibition. The lead partner attended sessions on topics including Hydrogen & Carbon Capture Synergies, Hydrogen Ports and Infrastructure, the Port of Hamburg hydrogen ecosystem, Port of Antwerp-Bruges as a hydrogen and CO₂ hub, North Sea Powerhouse development, integrated ammonia technologies, and safe NH₃ bunkering in Northern European ports. Participation allowed the project to share knowledge, explore collaboration opportunities, and strengthen regional and European networks in hydrogen and ammonia applications.
Through these activities in October, H2Deri@BSP reinforced its role as a hub for knowledge exchange, collaboration, and market insight dissemination, advancing the transition toward sustainable hydrogen-based solutions in the Baltic Sea Region.
