12 November 2024 a seminar on the project “Municipal Scale Carbon Based Energy Equilibrium” funded by the Interreg Baltic Sea Region 2021-2027 Programme was arranged in Tauragė District Municipality.

Compensation of the seasonal variability and uncontrollability of renewable energy (RES) production (variations in solar radiation intensity, daily wind speeds, etc.), the development of energy storage infrastructure is highly important for Lithuanian Associated partner in Lithuania – Tauragė District Municiplity, which is one of the leading Green Municipalities with extremely high share of renewables in their energy balance.

During the seminar the project and its’ outputs were more widely presented together with the most popular and proven energy storage technologies, which were selected and investigated under the project activities. LEI has also provided the first results of the municipal energy system modelling platform developed during the project for Tauragė District municipality. Other projects at the Lithuanian Energy Institute were with funding opportunities for implementation of municipal investments were also presented.

Representatives from Tauragė Municipality as well as municipal companies, which are widely using and/or producing energy, talked about Tauragė’s initiatives as a green municipality, the current state and prospects of Tauragė’s heating sector, as well as the development and perspectives of eco-transport in Tauragė region.
