Event "The Transformation of District Heating Sector as an Integral Part of Sustainable Energy"

On December 9, 2025, Kaunas University of Technology hosted an event entitled “The Transformation of District Heating Sector as an Integral Part of Sustainable Energy,” organized by Kaunas University of Technology, the Lithuanian Energy Institute, and the Lithuanian District Heating Association. The event is part of the “Energy Network” series of events.

The event addressed topical issues related to District Heating transformation. Presentations were given and experiences were shared by Dr. Valdas Lukoševičius, President of the Lithuanian District Heating Association, Agnė Bagočiutė, Director of the Lithuanian Energy Agency, the heads of the Alytus and Jonava heat networks, and others.

Dr. Rimantas Bakas from LEI has presented EU projects that are currently being implemented in LEI and are related to district heating sector, among which is Energy Equilibrium and EE platform.

The event was attended by over sixty participants, including many guests from the Lithuanian District Heating Association, National Energy Regulatory Authority, the Lithuanian Energy Agency, a number of district heating companies, Lithuanian Electricity transmission operator Litgrid, other energy companies, and the academic community.
