Sustainable Business Hub (SBH) is founded in 2000 and supported by Region Skåne and it operates as a limited company owned by a non-profit association, with a diverse membership spanning businesses, municipalities, and academia, forming a dynamic triple helix. The SBH offers a neutral platform for collaboration, fostering partnerships that drive sustainable development. Its core innovation areas include sustainable energy, climate adaptation, circular resource management and blue economy. With extensive experience in project management, business development, and internationalization, the SBH actively engages in global collaborations, including through the membership in International Cleantech Network (ICN). SBH focuses on five strategic areas: knowledge sharing, internationalization, matchmaking, project development, and visibility. By bridging sectors and turning science into practice, it plays a vital role in accelerating the green transition both locally and globally.
SBH expertise in sustainable energy is extensive and supported by a wide network of members, including municipalities, companies, and academic partners, all actively engaged in advancing the green transition. SBH specializes in several key energy areas: sustainable local energy production, energy sharing and storage, resilient energy systems across homes, industries, and municipalities, and digital tools for energy action planning. We are currently involved in several cutting-edge projects that reflect these priorities. In Malmö, SBH in collaboration with stakeholders are developing innovative energy system solutions for the industries and municipality that integrate renewable energy storage.
Through initiatives like Energy Circle, we are creating tools and methodologies to help regions reduce dependence on imported energy and plan for long-term sustainability. Our work also includes low-temperature district heating and energy flexibility models tailored to urban environments. By leveraging digital platforms and simulation models, SBH empowers municipalities to visualize current energy footprints and simulate future scenarios, supporting strategic planning and climate goals.
Throughout the execution of the Energy Circle project, SBH will be a supporting partner in several activities in collaborating with local stakeholders. SHB will support the Estonian partners in integrating the methodology for energy builders into an online assessment tool, in order to facilitate its implementation in Business Support Organization (BSO) and administrations of the Baltic Sea Region (BSR). This tool will assess the capacity of the target audience to be builders in the transition to energy independency. Moreover, SBH will lead GoA 2.2 within the Energy Circle project, focusing on testing the Solution 2 Methodology for Energy Circle Roadmap in Tomelilla in Sweden, in coordination with Tomelilla Municipality. The proposed solutions will be piloted in the Southern Sweden market, with additional support from two associated partner municipalities, the City of Malmö and Trelleborg Municipality who are associated partners in the Energy Circle project.
