Presenting our partners: FIPIF
14 April 2026
The Finnish Plastics Industry Federation (FIPIF) is a trade and employer organization representing companies in the plastics sector, including those that use plastics as raw materials, process them, and recycle them. In the CompositeCircle project, FIPIF contributes its sector-wide expertise by sharing knowledge, experience, and industry perspectives related to composite materials and recycling.
FIPIF has actively promoted composite recycling in Finland for several years through its Composites Division. In 2022, this work led to the creation of the KiMuRa route, a national logistics solution that enables industrial composite waste to be collected and circulated efficiently across Finland. Through CompositeCircle, FIPIF brings this practical experience into an international context.
An industry voice in an international project
Within the project, FIPIF participates in knowledge exchange and is also represented in the project steering group, ensuring that industry needs and realities are reflected in the project’s strategic direction.
“Our role is to share information and expertise from the plastics and composites industry and to support the project through active participation,” expert Pirjo Pietikäinen notes.

As the project progresses, FIPIF expects its role to evolve through learning, networking, and collaboration with new partners across the Baltic Sea Region. While the organization has not previously participated in international composite recycling projects, it brings experience from other EU-funded initiatives and from developing recycling logistics at the national level.
In addition, FIPIF is a member of EuCIA (European Composite Industry Alliance), which supports the development of the composites sector across Europe. This connection strengthens the project’s link to wider European industry discussions.
Looking ahead
CompositeCircle has ambitious objectives, but FIPIF sees the consortium as well equipped to address potential challenges through cooperation and shared problem-solving. The project is also viewed as a strong foundation for future initiatives, both within the Baltic Sea Region and beyond.
“This project clearly opens up opportunities for follow-up projects. The work done here can be expanded geographically, and future projects may also address composite recycling technologies that are not yet covered,” Pirjo Pietikäinen highlights.
By contributing an industry-wide perspective and established national experience, FIPIF helps ensure that CompositeCircle’s outcomes are practical, scalable, and relevant for real-world implementation.
