Technical details

On September 27th, during European Researchers’ Night 2024 at Riga Technical University, the CommitClimate Household Simulator was made available to visitors of all ages. The tool allowed participants to find out their household’s greenhouse gas emissions based on various factors such as energy consumption, transportation habits, and lifestyle choices. By entering their data, users could calculate their carbon footprint and understand how everyday actions contribute to overall emissions.

After calculating their emissions, visitors were encouraged to explore different strategies to reduce their footprint. They could adjust variables like switching to energy-efficient appliances, reducing car usage, or modifying purchasing habits to see the potential impact of these changes. This hands-on approach offered a clear, practical view of how small lifestyle adjustments can significantly lower emissions.

Throughout the event, valuable feedback was collected from participants to enhance the simulator’s functionality. The input from users will be used to improve the tool’s usability, ensuring it becomes an even more effective resource for promoting environmentally conscious decisions.
