New video: This is Circular Ports
08 October 2026
Every day, large amounts of materials move through and are handled in ports. Bringing together different industries, actors and material streams, port environments offer many opportunities to rethink how resources are used, reused and recycled.
Six pilots around the Baltic Sea Region
Circular Ports is putting these opportunities into practice through six pilots in different port environments around the Baltic Sea Region.
In Aalborg, the focus is on construction and building materials, while Hamburg explores circular solutions for ship and boat recycling. Lappeenranta looks at material flows and opportunities for industrial symbioses, and Tallinn works to increase the recycling of waste recycling on ships. In Norrköping, the pilot explores new waste streams for recycling, while Gdynia focuses on the circular management of bulk cargo spillages.
Different challenges and different approaches, but all share the same goal: keeping resources in circulation for longer.
The new This is Circular Ports video brings these six pilots together and introduces the people and ideas behind the work taking place across the project.
