Recycled fertilisers attract visitors at CiNURGI’s stand at OKRA agricultural fair
03 July 2025
OKRA, held this year from Wednesday to Saturday (2-5th June) attracts a large number of agricultural and forestry professionals, whom are all important target groups for CiNURGi. CiNURGi project partner LUKE hosted a stand at the fair and on the first day of the fair, recycled fertilisers attracted a lot of interest. Visitors to the stand understand how vital organic matter is for the health of arable land and the importance of nutrient recycling.
Many visitors see the recycling of nutrients and sustainable agriculture as important issues. Discussions frequently touched on the role of recycled fertilisers in maintaining soil fertility. However, sewage sludge-based fertilisers are a more controversial topic. Some visitors were suspicious of them due to the risk of contamination. This shows that we still have work to do to increase the acceptance of recycled nutrient fertilizers and in developing and promoting standards for safe and sustainable recycling of nutrients.
