In the pursuit of a sustainable future, the CiNURGi project brings together a consortium of 24 partners, spanning research institutes, industry leaders, and government agencies, to develop a circular economy for nutrients within the Baltic Sea Region. Each partner contributes unique expertise and perspectives to address the complex challenges of nutrient recovery and recycling.

Among them, SF-Soepenberg GmbH, a German enterprise specializing in the production of struvite fertilizers from wastewater, provides valuable insights into the value chain of recycled nutrient products.

SF-Soepenberg’s approach to transforming industrial residuals into high-quality fertilizers illustrates the practical application of circular economy principles. Their work demonstrates how industries can turn waste into value, conserve resources, and close ecological cycles, aligning with CiNURGi’s goal of enhancing nutrient recovery to address environmental challenges like eutrophication.

The inclusion of SMEs is crucial for the real-world implementation of circular economy solutions, as demonstrated by SF-Soepenberg. Alongside other partners, they showcase the power of collaboration in overcoming challenges and scaling solutions. Through this partnership, CiNURGi supports the EU Circular Economy Action Plan, promoting sustainable resource use and closing nutrient cycles.

SF-Soepenberg’s role in CiNURGi highlights the value of enterprise perspectives in driving innovation while complementing the contributions of the other 23 partners. Together, the consortium is advancing a circular economy for nutrients, fostering sustainability and resilience in the region.
